Brittany Newlove: What Should I Say?

January 17–February 24, 2024
Student Gallery

In the exhibition What Should I Say? Brittany Newlove presents a body of work that expresses an existential journey precipitated by the epidemic lockdown, one she continues to explore to the present day. As the period of solitude stretched on, her images reveal the sense of timelessness which set in, and the emerging of a deep sense of inner observation. Using photographs of herself, shadows, and objects in her apartment Newlove’s pictures deeply dissects the relationship with herself. Acutely observing the quality of the changing light in the space around her, the pictures express a consciousness of her body in the passing of time.
